Writer's Block: Repeat After Me...
People ALWAYS pronounce my name wrong. No one realized that the D in Lindley is silent. I went through a spell of absolutely hating my name. I spelled it: Linlee, Linley, Lynnliegh. And every other combination you could possibly imagine.
Actually some of my friends don;t even call me by my first name at all, or my middle. they take the last syllable of my last name. Tes. Kristin's been calling me that for years. It takes the confusion and guesswork out of it, because everyone can pronounce Tes.
Actually, my last name is usually pronounced wrong too. Every time a telemarketer calls they pronounce it with sharp vowels, like a Latino name. But the fact of the matter is that Estes is not. It English, originally Italian. But not Spanish in the least.
I've finally come to terms with my name. It's odd(Lindley has never been in the Social Security top 10,000 most popular) and hard to pronounce but it suits me.
Lindley comes from "linden" or "life" tree. And that's me in a nutshell. Life. Spunk.
I really wouldn't have it any other way.
